San Diego Poluce Pursuit Escalates

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 6-21-24 3:45 am approx
LOCATION: Rosecrans & Jefferson/Pacific Hwy
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:

1. A traffic stop was conducted by SDPD officers of a car with two males inside for a traffic violation.
2. The driver stopped in the parking lot of the Fuller Liquor store on Rosecrans St at Jefferson St.
3. The male passenger immediately fled on foot, heading towards Pacific Hwy.
4. One officer gave chase and captured the suspect in the parking lot of Perry’s Cafe at Rosecrans and Pacific Hwy.
5. Upon searching the suspect, a small baggie of meth was found.
6. The suspect, at one point, while handcuffed, tried to eat the baggie from the hood of the Police vehicle and was luckily stopped by the officers. The officers called the action  “Hungry, Hungry Hippo” after the children’s game.
7. He was arrested for a felony warrant of theft.
8. The driver did not run and was detained.
9. Several crack/meth pipes were found inside the car, along with a stolen bike from the passenger.
