San Diego: Police Pursuit Ends With Crash Into Big Rig, Occupants Critically Injured

11.26.2018 | 2:00 PM | SAN DIEGO – Three men were hospitalized with serious injuries after the vehicle they were riding in collided with a tractor trailer during a police pursuit, Monday afternoon.

Deputies were conducting a routine traffic stop when the vehicle they had stopped abruptly fled, initiating a pursuit.

The short pursuit culminated quickly when the driver of the vehicle fleeing police crashed into a tractor trailer.

The driver, along with two others inside, were seriously injured in the crash that lodged the vehicle under the trailer.

Firefighter paramedics responded and treated the three patients on scene before transporting them to area hospitals.

One of the men was critically injured and had to be airlifted to a hospital. Authorities on scene reported that man might not survive.

The reason the suspect fled was not immediately known.
