San Diego: Man Caught Trying To Burn Down Fire Station

06.02.2020 | 5:00 PM | SAN DIEGO – A man was caught attempting to burn down a fire station by tampering with a gas line in downtown, Tuesday evening.

Two Metro Arson Strike Team (MAST) investigators discovered the man tampering with a gas line to San Diego Fire Department Station No. 1 located near the intersection of 1st and B streets around 5:00 PM.

As the investigators approached the suspect he attempted to ignite the gas line using a lighter but was quickly detained.

Officers from the San Diego Police Department responded to scene prompting the man to become agitated.

A body wrap was used to subdue the man as he resisted and shouted, “I can’t breath.”

The circumstances surrounding the incident were unclear but it was believed the man may be suffering from mental health issues.
