San Diego: FBI Raids Home Connected To Multi-Million-Dollar iPhone/iPad Scheme
11.13.2019 | 8:30 AM | SAN DIEGO – Officials raided a home in connection with an multi-million-dollar scheme involving counterfeit iPhone and iPads, Wednesday morning.
Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided a home located in the 8700 block of Longwood Street in the Mira Mesa area around 8:30 AM.
The raid was conducted in connection with a recently unsealed grand jury indictment chargeeting fourteen members of an alleged international crime ring.
According to the indictment the ring imported more than 10,000 counterfeit iPhones and iPads from China and then exchanged the phony products for the real thing at Apple stores in the United States and Canada.
The ring would ship back the legitimate products to China where they would be sold at a premium.
Authorities allege the ring cost Apple stores in excess of $6 million dollars.
