San Diego: Enraged AMPM Employee Attacks Deputy

12.18.2018 | 12:15 AM | SAN DIEGO – A deputy was injured after being attacked by an armed AMPM employee, Tuesday morning.

Deputies responded to reports of a man in AMPM uniform swinging a bat who was also possibly armed with a knife at the AMPM/ARCO station in the 9000 block of Campo Road around 12:15 AM.

Deputies arriving on scene made contact with the man and placed him into custody as they suspected he was under the influence of drugs.

While escorting the suspect, witnesses say the man slipped his handcuffs and began to fight with a deputy.

The man bit the deputy during the scuffle and was subdued.

Firefighter paramedics treated the deputy on scene.

It was unclear what charges the suspect might face as a result of the scuffle.
