San Diego: Crazed Man Shot By Homeowner During Break-In
11.28.2018 | 11:40 AM | SAN DIEGO – A man was hospitalized after being shot by a homeowner who’s house he was attempting to break into, Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities responded to the 6800 block of Charlene Avenue reference a possible shooting shortly before 12:00 AM.
Officials arriving on scene found a man with a gunshot wound and immediately treated him on scene.
During their investigation, officers learned that the man was shot after going on an apparent drug-fueled rage and smashing a car window before attempting to break into a home.
It all started when a resident of the home walked outside and was confronted by a man who quickly became irate and smashed a car window. The woman retreated inside and the man then attempted to break in to the home.
During his break-in attempt another resident of the home used a revolver to shoot and stop the suspect.
The suspect was transported to Mercy Hospital with a gunshot wound but was expected to survive.
Police were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and it was unclear if the shooter would face charges.
