San Diego: Child Missing After Man Steals Car From Gas Station
11.09.2019 | 11:00 AM | SAN DIEGO – An 11-year-old child was missing after the car he was in was stolen by a man at a gas station, Saturday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a stolen vehicle and kidnapping at a Valero Gas Station located near the intersection of Geneva and Euclid Avenue around 11:00 AM.
Units arriving on scene learned a man was at the gas station with an 11-year-old male child inside his vehicle when a transient stole the vehicle and fled northbound on the I-5 Freeway.
Police used a cellphone inside the vehicle to ping its location and eventually found it stopped at the Rest Stop off the northbound I-5 Freeway near Camp Pendleton.
The male suspect was taken into custody but the child was not located.
An Amber Alert has been issued while police search from the air and ground for the child.
