San Bernardino Mountains Heavy Snow & Rain Continue

DETAILS:

  1. The main storm front has now passed through the Mountains, how ever pockets of heavy rain and snow continue to make their way through the mountains.
  2. Cold air behind the main storm has pushed the warmer storm front out of the area and has taken control of the climate.
  3. This cold air has dropped the temperatures quickly and is causing a snow levels to drop quickly.
  4. Snow levels remained extremely high through out the day around 7k to 8k feet.
  5. Snow levels are expected to drop down to about 6k feet over night,  how ever the storm at this point has lost most of its energy and moisture leaving about a 30 percent chance of scattered snow showers and rain through out the night.
  6. The big threat will be ice roads.
  7. At the lower elevations at lake arrowhead and crestline, heavy rain continued to slam the mountain communities causing road flooding, and significant mountain run off and flooding around residential properties.
  8. Minor rock and mud slides were reported in various locations along highway 18 and 330, however no significant damages was reported.
  9. Snow plows continue to work highway 18 to mitigate the snowy roads and also any residual rock and mudslides.
