San Bernardino: Army Soldier Shot To Death Outside Apartment Complex

08.26.2018 | 10:50 PM | SAN BERNARDINO – A U.S. Army reservist was shot to death while dropping off a coworker in a case of possibly mistaken identity, late Monday night.

Authorities responded to reports of a shooting in the 4600 block of North Sierra Way around 10:50 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a vehicle riddled with bullets and a victim, later identified as 24-year-old Nitesh Kumar of San Bernardino, deceased from a gunshot wound within the apartment complex.

Initial reports indicate Kumar, a U.S. Army reservist, and employee at the San Manuel Indian Casino was dropping off a friend when a vehicle puled alongside Kumar’s car and opened fire.

Witnesses reported hearing 3-6 gunshots and seeing Kumar exist his car before collapsing in front of an apartment.

Authorities believe the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity and are searching for suspects.
