Road Rage Leads To 1/4 Acre Fire and Burned Car

LOCATION: Gilman Springs Road/SR 60 and Eucalyptus

DETAILS:
- Cal Fire Riverside County, Moreno Valley and Riverside County Sheriff, Moreno Valley responded to a road rage incident that lead to two cars off the road, and one on fire with vegetation on fire, according to Riverside County Sheriff Office, PIO, Sgt. Brito-Gonzalez.
- When Deputies arrived, they found 2 vehicles, one on fire that had started the vegetation on fire and two subjects in some type of altercation.
- At this time, according to Sgt. Brito-Gonzalez, for unknown reasons the two people got into some type of road rage incident on the freeway. At some time, the vehicles left the freeway and chased each other to the area of Gilman Springs Road and World Trade Center road where the car hit the truck, causing both to leave the dirt road.
- After the vehicles came to a stop, the man in the car exited his vehicle and broke the window out of the truck and may have physically assaulted the driver of the truck.
- The driver of the car was taken into custody and is being charged with a 245, Assault with a deadly weapon, as he used his vehicle in the incident.
- No one was transported to the hospital.
- About a 1/4 acre of vegetation was burned in the incident as deputies had to clear the scene and make sure it was safe for fire fighters to enter and extinguish the fire.
