Riverside: Tow Truck Driver Shot And Killed By Motorist Requesting Help

10.07.2019 | 1:10 PM | RIVERSIDE – A tow truck driver was shot and killed by a motorist who requested assistance, Monday afternoon.

Authorities responded to reports of a physical altercation with shots fired near the intersection of Magnolia and Bandini avenues around 1:10 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Firefighter paramedics arriving on scene attempted life-saving measured but later pronounced the man deceased on scene.

Officers quickly apprehended a male suspect near the intersection of Maplewood Place and Brockton Avenue around 1:30 PM.

Initial reports indicate the suspect had called the victim, a tow truck driver, to assist him. Once the suspect’s vehicle was loaded onto the tow truck an altercation occurred and the suspect is believed to have shot the tow truck driver.

The area surrounding the incident was closed while authorities investigated.
