Riverside: Shootout Involving Security Guard Leave Two Dead Outside Nightclub
06.22.2020 | 12:05 AM | RIVERSIDE – A shootout involving a security guard at a nightclub left the guard injured and two others dead, early Monday morning.
The gunfire erupted after a security guard at El Calentano, a nightclub located in the 10300 block of Arlington Avenue, asked a man and woman to leave around midnight.
Shortly after being asked to leave the man and woman got in their vehicle and drove by the entrance to the club.
While driving by the male driver opened fire striking the security guard who was seated inside and prompting the guard to return gunfire.
Both the male and female were struck and killed and the vehicle they were riding in then crashed into a nearby building.
A musician playing inside the nightclub reported to a local news station that the security guard suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.
The musician said he used his belt as an improvised tourniquet to slow the guards bleeding.
Firefighter paramedics transported the security guard to a nearby hospital where he was in stable condition and expected to survive.
It was unclear why the man and woman were asked to leave the nightclub but the investigation is still unfolding.
