Riverside: Pursuit Of Stolen Box Truck Ends In SWAT Standoff

01.16.2019 | 9:45 AM | RIVERSIDE – A man was taken into custody after an hours-long pursuit that ended in a SWAT standoff, Wednesday morning.

Officers attempted to stop a stolen box truck that had recently been stolen in Riverside around 9:45 AM.

The male driver of the truck failed to yield to officers, leading them on a pursuit that lasted nearly two hours.

The suspect eventually stopped near the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and Duncan Avenue and prompted a stand-off.

SWAT officials responded to the scene and surrounded the suspect before taking him into custody.

Authorities believe the man may have under the influence of drugs of alcohol.
