Riverside: Driver Extricated After Car Flies Off Freeway
12.03.2018 | 3:50 AM | RIVERSIDE – A woman had to be cut free from her car after apparently flying off a freeway and landing in a nearby shopping center, Monday morning.
Authorities responded to reports of a vehicle that had crashed into an embankment off the SR-60 freeway near the Canyon Springs Marketplace shortly before 4:00 AM.
Units arriving on scene were unable to located the reported crash from the freeway but continuing their search off the freeway in a nearby shopping center.
Crews soon discovered a white Fiat 500 cabriolet with damage consistent with rolling off the nearby freeway and a female driver trapped inside.
Using the jaws of life and other power tools firefighters freed the woman from the vehicle before transporting her to an area hospital.
It was unclear what caused the vehicle to fly off the freeway or whether any other vehicles were involved.
The California Highway Patrol was on scene investigating.
