Riverside: Deputy Shot, Suspect Killed During Gun Battle

06.11.2019 | 8:15 PM | Riverside – An investigation was underway after an deputy-involved gun battle left a suspect dead and a deputy injured, Tuesday night.

Authorities were in the area of Cedarwood Drive and Orangewood Lane around 8:15 PM when a man emerged from a residence firing a weapon.

Deputies returned fire and fatally struck the suspect who was pronounced deceased on scene.

At least one deputy was struck by gunfire in the leg and had to be airlifted to an area hospital for treatment.

A large law enforcement presence was on scene as the authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
