Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Investigator Involved In Fatal Crash

FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION INVESTIGATION INVOLVING ON-DUTY LAW ENFORCEMENT

RIVERSIDE, CA – On Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at approximately 7:51 p.m., Riverside Police Officers and Firefighter-Paramedics with the Riverside Fire Department responded to the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Rutland Avenue for a traffic collision involving an on-duty Riverside County District Attorney’s Investigator and a motorcyclist.  Unfortunately, the rider of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and assumed the investigation.  They are being assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office.  The identity of the deceased is pending notification of family members and completion of the Coroner’s investigation.

Preliminarily investigation determined the 29-year-old motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Arlington Avenue approaching Rutland Avenue when he collided into the District Attorney Investigator who was making a left turn into a driveway from eastbound Arlington Avenue, just west of Rutland Avenue.  The investigator did not sustain any injuries.  Speed on the part of the motorcyclist is suspected to have contributed to the collision.

This investigation is ongoing and there are no other details to release at this time.
