Riverside County Deputy Injured In Crash With Honda Civic

A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Riverside, with the other driver claiming the deputy ran a red light before the collision.
Riverside police and firefighters responded around 4:29 p.m. on October 6, 2026, to the intersection of Indiana Avenue and La Sierra Avenue following reports of a traffic collision involving a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle.
First responders arrived to find a black Honda Civic with major damage to the driver’s side and a sheriff’s patrol vehicle with significant front-end damage.
The deputy was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The driver of the Honda Civic also suffered injuries but planned to seek medical treatment on his own.
According to the Civic’s driver, he was traveling through the intersection with a green light when the deputy allegedly entered against a red light and struck his vehicle.
The driver’s account has not been independently confirmed, and authorities have not released an official determination regarding fault or the circumstances leading up to the collision.
