Riverside County Deputy Darnell Calhoun Killed In The Line Of Duty

DETAILS:

A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy was fatally shot during a confrontation with a domestic violence suspect.

This is the department’s second deputy killed in the line of duty in just over two weeks.

Sheriff’s deputies said a suspect was in custody.

Deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence call in the 18500 block of Hilldale Ln.

Calhoun was the first deputy at the scene.

The second deputy on the scene found Deputy Calhoun wounded in the street.

A gunfight ensued with the suspect who was shot.

The suspect was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital.

He is currently in critical condition.
