Riverside County Deputy Crashes Into Parked Cars

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 5-5-23, 2:31 a.m.
LOCATION: La Rue St and Mustang Lane
CITY: Jurupa Valley
DETAILS:

  1. California Highway Patrol has responded to investigate a traffic collision involving a Riverside County Sheriffs Deputy and Multiple vehicles.
  2. According to Jorge Porras, the driver of the main vehicle that was hit.  He and a friend were parked on the side of the road eating taco’s when out of no where and RSO Deputy slammed into the rear of his vehicle (A black Honda Accord) at a high rate of speed, causing him to hit the vehicle directly in front of him (A Ford Explorer), causing a chain reaction, and that truck hitting a car in front of it (A Toyota Camry), and that car finally hitting another truck (A Ford F 150).
  3. The deputy was pulling out of a parking lot next to where the collision occurred
  4. A total of 5 vehicles involved.
  5. One person from the initial vehicle that was hit was transported to a local area hospital in an unknown condition, but sustaining none life threatening injuries.
  6. At this time it is not clear what distracted the deputy to cause him to hit the car at a high rate of speed.
