Reckless Driver Killed After 450 Foot Plunge Off Mountain Road

DETAILS:

  1. A vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed soared off Highway 18 and dove 450 ft off a cliff.
  2. The driver was ejected and is now dead.
  3. At around 10 am first responders were dispatched to reports of a vehicle over the side.
  4. Witnesses stated that the vehicle was driving recklessly and sped down the narrow windy roads and passing people over a double yellow line before losing control and soaring off the cliff.
  5. The vehicle was so far down the cliff in heavy vegetation and large trees that it took first responders almost 2 hours to locate the car and the victim.
  6. Firefighters were hoisted down the cliff and located the victim and confirmed the vehicle to be 450 ft down the cliff with the confirmed body ejected and found over 50 ft away from the vehicle.
  7. It took firefighters close to 2 hours to be able to hoist the body of the victim from the cliff side.
  8. The vehicle remains down the cliff and may be extracted at a later time.
  9. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
  10. No further details are known at this time.
