Reckless Driver Chase Ends in Rollover Crash

At approximately 8:45pm on March 6th, 2026, El Monte Police Department officers attempted to stop a reckless driver whose vehicle displayed paper license plates. Officers ran the plate, which returned to a 2014 Kia.

The vehicle eventually entered the southbound 605 Freeway north of the 60 Freeway. Officers discontinued the pursuit shortly afterward.

An LASD airship responding to the area located a crashed vehicle matching the suspect car’s description on the shoulder of the southbound 605 Freeway. The vehicle had reportedly lost control and overturned onto its roof.

Passing motorists stopped to assist the occupants, who were trapped inside the vehicle. El Monte Police Department officers and California Highway Patrol units responded to the crash scene. One suspect was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not immediately disclosed, while the passenger was taken into custody.

Authorities stated the individuals appeared to be under the influence. The investigation remained ongoing.
