Random Shooter Kills One, Injures Another

On Monday, June 3, 2024, at 7:05 a.m., deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of West Seventh Street and South San Jacinto Street in the city of San Jacinto regarding a male shooting at passing vehicles. Multiple vehicles were struck by gunfire and two people were found to have been shot. The two gunshot victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite lifesaving measures, one of the victims was pronounced deceased. Responding deputies secured the area, which was closed to all vehicle and foot traffic. Investigators from San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station, Central Homicide Unit, and the Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau were notified and responded to the scene. Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit assumed control of the investigation. Homicide investigators notified the victim’s next of kin. The victim in this case has been identified as 42-year-old, Victor Hugo Leon, a resident of San Jacinto. During the course of this investigation, Julio Cesar Rodarte, a 39-year-old resident of San Jacinto, was arrested and booked into the Larry Smith Correctional Facility for murder and ten counts of attempted murder. This investigation is still ongoing and no additional information will be released at this time. There are no outstanding suspects sought in this investigation.
