Pursuit Termination on 5 Freeway, East LA

DETAILS:

  1. A man is in custody after aiming a gun at a patron at a gas station before allegedly striking multiple vehicles with his truck & trailer and leading police on a brief pursuit
  2. A call came in as a gas station near Olympic Blvd & Boyle Ave regarding an armed man who was pointing it at someone after a reported dispute
  3. The suspect entered into a large Ford dually pickup with a long trailer attached
  4. LAPD quickly located the vehicle and gave chase of the vehicle, which refused to stop
  5. The truck got onto the 5 Freeway southbound, with the helicopter tracking it
  6. The suspect stopped the truck below the Olympic Blvd overpass in an attempt to hide from the helicopter and attempted to flee on foot
  7. Police quickly located the suspect and took him into custody
  8. At least two vehicles on the freeway were struck by the suspect’s vehicle
  9. No injuries were reported in the chaos
