Pursuit Suspect Drives Wrong Way On I-805 (Caught On Camera) | National City
04.23.2022 | 9:07 AM | NATIONAL CITY – A SDPD officer spotted the male driver of the red Alfa Romero driving dangerously while talking on his cell phone. The officer attempted to stop the suspect, and the suspect fled at a high rate of speed. When the suspects license plates were ran, the check came back to a vehicle involved in a “246” (Shooting at a Dwelling” from earlier. He is considered to be “Armed & dangerous”. The pursuit went into National City and then south on the I-805 to Chula vista, where he started westbound on H St and then made a U-turn and went east, back to the I-805. The suspect then drove north on the I-805 to eastbound Hwy 54. From S. Woodman, and back into San Diego limits in Bay Terraces. The suspect then went west, making his way back into National City. The suspect was running “Stop” signs and “Red” lights and hitting speeds of 90 mph on the city streets. The suspect eventually went back to the I-805 and went the wrong way going south in the northbound lanes. He blew out a tire somewhere in National City, but made his way for approx 2 miles to the I-805/ Hwy 54 transition ramps. He stopped his car and then ran across the traffic lanes and into the area known as “The Jungle” “The Jungle” is the heavy riprarian area of the Sweetwater River, and is populated with many homeless. The SDPD ABLE helicopter lost the suspect in the heavily brush. A perimeter was setup and a search with officers and deputies, and K-9’s was started.
