Pursuit Suspect Dead After Head-On Crash

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 10-10-25 | ~8:00 p.m.
LOCATION:  SH 146 & Crystal Boulevard

DETAILS:

1. Per Baytown PD via Facebook “At approximately 8:00 p.m., Baytown officers observed a reckless driver in a BMW traveling at a high rate of speed on SH 146 near Alexander Drive. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop and continued northbound. Officers lost sight of the vehicle several times before it entered Chambers County’s jurisdiction, where the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office took over the pursuit.
   A short time later, the BMW was involved in a head-on crash near Crystal Boulevard. The male driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. The occupants of the other vehicle—a male and a female—were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
   Traffic Alert: Both northbound and southbound lanes of SH 146 are shut down from Kilgore to Devinwood. Expect closures for several hours, please use alternate routes.”
