Pursuit Suspect Crashes Into House & Refuses to Surrender | Newbury Park
02.23.2022 | 1:00 AM | NEWBURY PARK – CHP Ventura officers took over a pursuit from Santa Barbara County Sheriff units on the southbound 101 Freeway at Telephone Rd.
The pursuit continued south on the 101 reaching speeds of over 120 mph into Newbury Park where the suspect vehicle was successfully spiked.
The suspect exited the freeway and began to lose the front tires of his vehicle while proceeding into a residential area.
The suspect crashed into a house in the 4800 block of Via Estrella where a female passenger bailed out of the car and was apprehended.
For approximately 15 minutes, the suspect refused to comply with officers’ orders to exit the vehicle until Ventura County Sheriff deputies beanbagged his windows which got him to finally give himself up without further incident.
The female passenger alerted officers that there may have been fentanyl in the vehicle.
Authorities say the the initial reason for the stop prior to the pursuit was for stolen license plates.
The car was also discovered to have been stolen as well as the suspect having two felony warrants.
