Pursuit Ends In Lakewood

LOCATION: Start WB 91 at Brookhurst(Anaheim), Ending Centrelia/Pioneer Blvd (Lakewood)

DETAILS:
- California Highway Patrol, Westminster, encountered a Maserati at WB 91 and Brookhurst in Anaheim that was going over 100 MPH. At that time, a failure to yield ensued.
- CHP Officers followed it to Valley View and the 91, where the car exited the vehicle and fled into a nearby neighborhood.
- As CHP was searching for the vehicle in the neighborhood, when they encountered the car, the fleeing driver intentionally went into the CHP unit head-on.
- The CHP unit received moderate damage, and the Maserati received major damage.
- At that time, the Maserati fled, and officers chased it for about another 30 minutes in neighborhoods in Cerritos, Norwalk, Los Alamitos, and Lakewood. Officers were able to take the driver into custody in the area of Centralia St. and Pioneer Blvd. in Lakewood.
- The driver was charged with evading 245 on a police officer and reckless driving.
