Pursuit Ends in Crash

DETAILS:
- An SDPD Police vehicle License Plate Reader (LPR) picked up a car’s license plate reported stolen yesterday in the Mission Gorge area.
- The vehicle was heading south on Fairmount Ave with two male suspects inside.
- When they saw the officer following behind, drove into the business area of Mission Gorge and turning onto several streets.
- Once they returned to Mission Gorge Rd, they attempted to flee at high speed, running stop signs and traffic lights.
- They were heading south on Mission Gorge Rd and attempted to make a left-hand turn.
- The driver lost control and crashed in front of a used car sales lot.
- Both males got out of the vehicle and started to run.
- An officer chased the driver on foot and caught him, but not before injuring his leg.
- Other officers caught the passenger a short distance away.
- Both were injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital.
- Both appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic.
- Both have extensive criminal records and were on Probation.
