DETAILS:

  1. HPD and HFD responded to reports of a major crash with extrication
  2. Arriving companies located a solo vehicle off the roadway with major damage
  3. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene
  4. The driver was traveling Southbound at a high rate of speed, struck trash cans, then left the roadway, struck a tree, and came to rest in a ditch
  5. there are alcoholic beverages in the vehicle
  6. The speedometer is stuck at 80 MPH, likely from impact with the tree
  7. The car was likely at a higher rate of speed upon initial impact
  8. The solo occupant is suspected of being impaired and high speeds, but this will be confirmed by evidence at the scene and ME’s toxicology reports
