Port Hueneme: DUI Driver Flees After Crashing Truck Into a Canal

01.16.2019 | 8:29 PM | PORT HUENEME – A suspected DUI driver fled after crashing his truck into a canal, Wednesday night.

Authorities responded to the reported crash in the 300 block of Channel Islands Boulevard around 8:29 PM.

Units arriving on scene located a truck that had crashed into a canal and was leaking fuel.

The driver of the truck was not in the immediate area but officers quickly located and determined him to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

He was placed into custody and expected to be booked on suspicion of DUI.

Firefighters were working to control the fuel leak into the canal.
