Pomona: Escapee Apprehended After Fleeing Police Custody
11.20.2018 | 6:30 PM | POMONA – A man who escaped police custody at a local hospital was back in cuffs, Tuesday night.
The incident began when a suspect who was in police custody at the Pomona Valley Hospital had his handcuffs removed in order to use a restroom around 6:30 PM.
After having his handcuffs removed, the suspect fled the hospital on foot.
Officers set-up a large perimeter with the assistance of outside agencies in attempt to contain the suspect.
During their search, authorities received reports from an off-duty officer who spotted the suspect.
With the off-duty officers description of the suspect’s location and the assistance of police K-9s, the escapee was located hiding. By 10:15 PM the suspect was apprehended and back in custody..
It was unclear why the suspect was originally in police custody.
