At approximately 12:52 on February 13th, 2026, officers responded to reports of shots fired during a pit bull attack in the 1200 block of Auburn Way in Auburn.
Upon arrival, police located a pit bull shot and deceased in the street, along with a female suffering from injuries consistent with a dog attack. The female was transported to a hospital for treatment. She may have also sustained a gunshot wound to the arm, though that has not been officially confirmed.
A male nearby appeared to have shot the dog, but may not have otherwise been involved in the incident. Officers were reportedly waiting on a warrant before entering a nearby motel room where the firearm was believed to be stored.
The incident remains under investigation.
