Pico Rivera: Firefighters Battle Railroad Tie Fire

06.27.2019 | 3:05 AM | PICO RIVERA – Firefighters extinguished approximately 500 railroad ties that caught fire, Thursday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of an outdoor fire near the Union Pacific Railroad Tracks in the 7900 block of Rosemead Boulevard around 3:05 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a stack of approximately 500 railroad ties engulfed in flames.

Within 20 minutes crews had control of the fire however all freight operations were halted while authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding the fire.
