- Fire crews responded to reports of a vehicle collision in a residential neighborhood.
- A Glendale Fire crews responded and located a pickup truck that crashed through a guardrail and then through an iron fence before falling 30 feet into a flood diversion channel.
- The assignment was quickly upgraded to a technical rescue operation drawing in several additional resources from the cities of Phoenix and Glendale.
- Firefighters coordinated with Phoenix Police and devised a rescue plan.
- Phoenix Police officers were able to access the spillway with their patrol vehicles via a nearby maintenance entrance.
- Fire crews provided the officers with first aid equipment to stabilize the male driver.
- the driver was found laying on the ground near the heavily damaged truck.
- Officers provided aid and stabilized the driver before loading him into a patrol vehicle.
