Phoenix: Stolen Vehicle with Juveniles Ends Safely

Phoenix Police discovered a stolen Kia Soul occupied by 5 people driving near 19th Avenue and Indian School Road at approximately 1:17 AM.
The officer followed the vehicle and called for additional units / air support to respond before attempting a traffic stop.
At 1:22 AM backup units and the Phoenix Police air unit arrived in the area as the vehicle sat at a red light on northbound Black Canyon Highway and Indian School Road.
Once the light turned green, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the suspect refused to yield to officers.
With felony flight now established, officers pulled back to a safe distance, initiating a tactical surveillance operation while air unit tracked the vehicle from above.
The suspect fled northbound on the I-17 for several miles and eventually exited at Jomax Road now going eastbound.
According to Police, 3 juveniles, one of which was clutching a toddler, bailed from the vehicle, fleeing on foot inside a Frys grocery store parking lot near Norterra Parkway and Jomax Road.
The driver continued fleeing, now traveling north on Norterra Parkway from Jomax and ditched the stolen vehicle in a residential area near 26th Avenue and Hedgehog Place.
The 4 juveniles and 1 toddler are all accounted for and are in Phoenix Police custody.
No injuries were reported.
