INCIDENT DATE/TIME : 2-22-2024 | 11:45 PMLOCATION : 27th Ave & McDowell RoadAREA/CITY : PhoenixDETAILS :According to Phoenix Police and DPS radio traffic:
Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a black Toyota Camry near the I-17 on Thunderbird Road.
The initial reason for the stop is unconfirmed.
The Camry refused to yield and fled southbound onto I-17.
A pursuit was not initiated however a “Tactical Surveillance Operation” was quickly authorized.
Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau and Special Assignments Units (SWAT) followed the vehicle at a distance while the air unit tracked from above.
The air unit followed the speeding Camry south on I-17 for several miles.
The Camry eventually exited the 17 at McDowell Road, making a westbound turn.
The vehicle then came to a stop outside an ARCO gas station at the intersection of 27th Avenue and McDowell Road.
The driver exited the vehicle and began walking towards the entrance of the gas station.
Special Assignments Units quickly converged on the gas station, taking the suspect into custody without further incident.
