DETAILS: Phoenix Fire crews responded to reports of a commercial structure fire near 24th Street and Washington Street at approximately 12:45 AM. Upon arrival, crews found a fully engulfed abandoned Carl’s Jr restaurant. Firefighters balanced the assignment to a working first-alarm fire due to the size and severity of the blaze. Crews battled the fire defensively, fighting the flames from exterior positions. A tower ladder was positioned over the structure, and an elevated master was quickly deployed to assist firefighting. Dense smoke and intense flames could be seen shooting into the night sky from miles away. Crews were able to achieve quick-fire knockdown shortly after their initial attack. No injuries have been reported, and fire investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
