Phoenix Fire Press Release:

Firefighters have extinguished a house fire while also containing a gas leak near 14th St and Bethany Home Rd. Crews arrived on the scene just after 10 pm Saturday night and found a working fire inside the home, quickly extending into the attic. Firefighters promptly searched the house while also extinguishing the fire. Ladder crews went to the roof to assist with ventilation. While extinguishing the fire, crews found a gas meter near the carport that was somehow damaged and became compromised. The leaking gas was ignited during the fire, and crews could use hose lines and tools to shut off the gas. Hazardous materials crews were on the scene to meter the area and determined all gas readings were zero. Southwest Gas was also on the scene, assisting in ensuring the safety of the gas meter. A family of four will be displaced at this time, and the Phoenix Community Assistance Program personnel are tending to their needs. No injuries and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
