- Phoenix Fire responded to numerous reports of a large fire at the JJ’s Recycling Center on Van Buren street Wednesday afternoon.
- Crews arrived and located several structures and vehicles heavily involved in fire as neighbors utilized garden hoses to water down their properties.
- Several small explosions occurred including stored ammunition according to scanner traffic.
- Firefighters established a “Big Water” operation and began a defensive attack of the fire from aerial ladders.
- Fire crews upgraded the assignment to a 4 alarm structure fire drawing in resources from several valley fire departments.
- Crews remain on scene as of 5:50 PM working to completely extinguish the fire.
- Fire investigators are on scene working to determine what caused the blaze.
