Person Detained After Deadly House Fire

At approximately 11:45 pm on March 28th, 2026, firefighters and sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported structure fire on Lacebark Street in San Marcos.

Upon arrival, crews encountered a fully involved residential structure fire and transitioned to a defensive firefighting operation due to the intensity of the flames.

Authorities reported that an elderly couple who resided at the home was unaccounted for at the time of the incident.

During the investigation, one individual associated with the residence was detained at the scene. Coroner personnel, along with bomb/arson and homicide investigators, responded as authorities worked to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the fire.

The investigation remained ongoing.
