Pepper Gas Forces Pursuit Suspect to Surrender

On October 1, 2025, at approximately 2:36 a.m., Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop near Day Street and Campus Drive for a vehicle code violation. The driver failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit ended near the Eucalyptus Avenue overpass on the 215 Freeway, where the suspect initially refused to comply with commands, resulting in a brief standoff on the overpass. Deputies used non-lethal pepper gas rounds to force compliance, shattering the vehicle’s windows and flattening its tires.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody without further incident. The investigation remains ongoing, according to RSO PIO Lt. Vickers.
