- Phoenix Police officers located 2 males asleep inside a stolen Hyundai Sonata parked in an apartment complex parking lot located near the 2200 block of West Campbell Avenue shortly after 1:00 AM.
- Officers requested additional resources to the scene and quickly surrounded the vehicle.
- Officers issued commands to the occupants, ordering them out of the vehicle.
- The driver began to comply but repeatedly ignored commands to keep his hands in the air.
- After reaching inside the vehicle several times, officers deployed a volley of pepper balls into the driver door.
- The passenger then exited the vehicle and fled on foot, jumping a wall directly behind the vehicle.
- The driver continued to disobey commands and started reaching around inside the vehicle once more.
