Pedestrian Killed When Pick Up Truck Crashes into Building

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 4-4-25 1:37 a.m.
LOCATION: Vernon Avenue / Alameda Street
AREA/CITY: South Los Angeles
DETAILS:

1. A pickup truck hit a pedestrian and crashed into a building.
2. The crash sheared a fire hydrant and took out a power pole.
3. Firefighters responded and shut the hydrant down, although the adjacent building, the El Faro Plaza, received some flooding.
4. The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
5. Alameda Street between Vernon Avenue and 45th Street has been shut down as police investigate the crash.
