Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run on Freeway On Ramp, San Bernardino, CA

At approximately 11:32 p.m. on January 31st, 2026, officers with the California Highway Patrol, along with firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and AMR, responded to a reported vehicle versus pedestrian collision on the Inland Center on-ramp to Southbound 215 Freeway.

According to CHP, two pedestrians were walking across the on-ramp when a speeding pickup truck struck one of them. The truck did not stop and fled the scene.

Witnesses reported the pickup had windshield and front-end damage and was followed briefly by another vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was last seen fleeing southbound on the 215 Freeway and then onto the 10 Freeway in an unknown direction.

CHP officers began CPR on the pedestrian until fire personnel and paramedics arrived and took over care.

Despite life-saving efforts, the pedestrian later succumbed to his injuries.

CHP stated the on-ramp would remain closed for approximately one hour while the investigation was conducted.

The hit-and-run remained under investigation.
