Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Security Guard
At approximately 9:41 p.m. on June 1, 2026, Houston Police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck on the southbound Gulf Freeway near Exit 45A.
Responding officers located an adult male who was unconscious and unresponsive in the roadway.
Houston Fire Department personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Investigators later contacted the driver believed to be involved, an elderly male security guard, at a nearby gas station located near Scott Street and Hadley Street.
Authorities observed significant damage to the front windshield of the driver’s Nissan Sentra, along with a broken passenger-side mirror.
Police are working to determine why the pedestrian was on the exit ramp at the time of the collision. Witnesses reported several homeless individuals frequent the area, but the identity of the victim and circumstances leading up to the crash have not yet been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
