Pedestrian Critically Injured In Skid Row Crash

A man was left fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in Los Angeles’ Skid Row neighborhood.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on July 29, 2026, Los Angeles Police Department officers and Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to a reported traffic collision near 7th Street and Gladys Avenue.

When first responders arrived, they found an adult male lying near the sidewalk suffering from critical injuries. Video from the scene showed the victim had sustained significant blood loss before he was transported to a local hospital.

A man believed to be either the driver involved or a witness remained at the scene and was seen speaking with investigators. The vehicle involved may have been a gray Toyota Prius, though authorities have not officially confirmed that information.

The collision remains under investigation.

The Skid Row area has experienced numerous fatal and serious pedestrian collisions in recent years. Many residents and community members have expressed concerns that stolen copper wiring from streetlights has left portions of the neighborhood poorly lit at night, creating hazardous conditions for both pedestrians and drivers.
