Peaceful Day Time Protest Takes a Turn After Sunset
INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 6-14-25 2200
LOCATION: 2nd Ave Federal Building
AREA/CITY: Seattle
DETAILS:
- Around 50 people converged on the 2nd Ave side of the federal building and began shutting down the street.
- They circled multiple cars that weren’t sure what to do, and threw scooters at them, barricading them in.
- Fires were then started, and the crowd moved through multiple blocks
- This began within 15 minutes of SPD releasing the resources needed for the day. This appears to be part of a belief that personnel within SPD leak info to agitators so they know when to act
- SPD initially decided to provide the protesters with traffic control assistance as they blocked windows and used barricades. But ultimately, the staff were called back into mobilization
- SPD began being hit with bottles and was moved multiple times
- An SOS-style flare was shot onto the roof of the building
- More fireworks were thrown at SPD
- The Federal Building was breached on the North end ramp
- Multiple protestors were struck hard by cars rushing the protestors’ road block,s including a garbage truck
- Numerous fights broke out, and some protestors were pepper-sprayed
- SPD seemed incapable of a proper response or lacked the desire to handle the situation
- At least one arrest was made
