Passenger Killed After F-150 Slams Into Tree
A violent single-vehicle crash left one person dead and another critically injured early Wednesday morning in Houston.
At approximately 12:16 a.m. on July 9, 2026, Houston Police responded to a crash near the intersection of Ella Boulevard and Pinemont Drive.
According to investigators, a blue Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on Ella Boulevard toward Pinemont when the driver lost control of the vehicle, possibly while traveling at a high rate of speed.
The pickup truck left the roadway and slammed into a tree with significant force.
A passenger, believed to be a woman in her 30s, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver, a man in his 30s, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Investigators said there were no known witnesses to the crash other than the individual who called 911.
The roadway remained closed for approximately two hours while Houston Police processed the scene.
According to police, the driver has a prior criminal history as well as a history of traffic and driving-related violations.
The Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate whether speed or any other factors contributed to the crash.
