Passenger Extricated From Vehicle After Major Crash

INCIDENT DATE/TIME: 2/9/2024 10:28 pm
LOCATION: Eastbound I-8 / East of I-805
AREA/CITY: San Diego
DETAILS:

1. San Diego Fire-Rescue along with the California Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle accident on the Eastbound lanes of the I-8 just East of the I-805 freeway.
2. When crews arrived, they learned that a Toyota sedan rear-ended a white Dodge Charger.
3. A passenger from the Charger had to be extricated by firefighters as a result of the crash.
4. The driver of the Toyota also had to be transported to the hospital for their injuries sustained in the crash. Both of their injuries are unknown at this time.
5. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The driver of the dark-colored sedan was not seriously injured.
6. The CHP issued a SigAlert as a result of the crash.
