- At or around 9:45 Monday night, Huntington Beach Fire Department Lifeguards witnessed a boat approaching the shore north of the pier near tower 14.
- As the boat ran aground in moderate surf, over a dozen adults jumped off the boat and attempted to flee from the scene.
- A swift response by the Huntington Beach Police Department was able to capture most if not all of the parties.
- The detainees were taken to a Homeland Security detention center in Long Beach.
- The “coyote” boat driver was also detained.
- About 7 barrels of fuel were recovered from the boat.
- The boat was taken to an unknown location.
